Several ships in the Australian navy have been named Tobruk. The Australian navy played a large part in the supply and transport needs of troops during the siege, and it is very appropriate that it continue to remember the name in this way.
The first ship named in honour of The Defence of Tobruk was a Battle class destroyer - D37. It was built in Sydney and commissioned in May 1950. It served in Korea and in the Monte Bello Islands. It was decommissioned in 1972. This is a link to a publication in the National Archives.
The latest HMAS Tobruk (LSH 50) is an amphibious heavy lift ship. This ship was commissioned on 23 April 1981, and it is due for decommissioning in the near future. There is current debate as to whether it should, after decommissioning, become a dive wreck off the Queensland coast, or whether it should become a floating memorial to the Siege of Tobruk. On 6 July 1981, 60 Tobruk veterans were welcomed on a visit to the then newly commissioned HMAS Tobruk. Here is a photo of that visit, along with a copy of the handout that they received.
Its official web page is here: HMAS Tobruk. There is a lot of information about it on the official page, and on the Wikipedia page.
