Dear David,

I have just come across your website and I have been researching my Father's WWIi history. (Eric John Blake - QX6974) The history of the 2/15th appears to be similar to 1st Australian Corps Troops Supply Column because they supported 2/15th, at least in the Middle East.

A gentleman called Jack Kelso, who has passed away now, from 1st Supply Column has put together a brief history on http://www.iseekin.com.au/EDHS/images/Album_1SuppCol/index.htm

However  I am finding it difficult working out which battalions my Father would have supported in New Guinea and Borneo.  The 1st Supply Column seems to have supported several battalions the 20th, the 22nd and others and my Fathers unit appeared to be with the 8th Mechanical Division at some time also, in Bulolo near Lae, where they rebuilt bridges.

In the end my Father ended up with the 2/25th Australian Transport Company in Borneo, which is not mentioned in the history that Jack Kelso has written above, although my Father did go to New Guinea and Moratai in Borneo.

The AWM does not have any records of the 8th Mechanical Division and has advised me it would be difficult doing the research, as the 1st Supply Column were support troops and would have been broken up and moved around depending on where they were needed.

I would be interested in your opinion and advice.

Regards

Janette Nathan (nee Blake)
