Passing of Arthur Pashen
It is with a great deal of sadness that we record the passing of
one of our Life Members Arthur Pashen, who passed away
peacefully at the Salvin Park Nursing Home on 23rd November,
2009, aged 93 Years.
Arthur was a Member of the AFAQ since the early 1950’s. He
and his best mate Ted Rowe were good fishermen and good
supporters of the Association. Arthur was awarded his Life
Membership for his dedication to the Association over a long
period of time – typical of Arthur’s generosity was when the
Association bought a dinghy in about 1980 for Members to
use at the Cottage– Arthur bought a brand new Outboard and
donated it to the Association.
He was a War Hero of the New Guinea Campaign and a
“Rat of Tobruk” – Tobruk was one of the longest sieges of WW2.
Arthur served in 2/15th Infantry Battalion, 2nd A.I.F. from
May 1940 to January 1945.
Caveant Hostes … Let Enemies beware!
There are only a few life members in our club which is a mark of
distinction for the effort and contribution to attain this honour.
Arthur is better known among our senior members and was kept
informed through the newsletter over recent years.
