ANZAC Day Luncheon 2012

The Club's 2012 ANZAC Day Luncheon was held at COFA in Southbank.  It commenced once members had returned from the Brisbane ANZAC Day march through the city.

The formalities commenced with a speech by President Gordon Wallace, and were follwoed at an appropriate time by The Loyal Toast and The Toast To The Battalion.

As usual there were two large wall screens showing photos that are relevant to the 2/15th Battalion.  These have been prepared by Treasurer Greg Snow from material provided by members.  Copies of these are available on the DVDs (See separate button above).

There were the obligatory raffles.  Some of the winners are shown in the photos, as are the prizes.

A small live band provided some music and vocals, which were appreciated by the members.

We all owe a debt of gratitude to the usual suspects - President Gordon, Secretary Steve, Treasurer Greg (even though he and his wife are in Villiers-Brettoneux today) and Archivist Doug (for organising the luncheon and managing the bus travel back and forwards).  Thanks also to Greg's son Robbie for efficiently collecting the cash and running the raffles.

Gordon's speech to members has been videoed, and will be uploaded soon.  As usual he was interesting and relevant, as well as direct and to the point in his comments.  He spoke without notes, so there is no transcript to post yet.

A more detailed description of the overall event will come in the next issue of Caveant Hostes.

Several of the Brisbane TV channels have used 2/15th-related footage in the evening news broadcasts today and attempts are being made to obtain copies for the site (or at least permanent links to them).
